An unhappy postscript to this event: I knew that the owner was struggling. She sold her house in order to help finance the store, or at least that was her story. I checked back every few months to see how she was doing. In January or so 2014, she was there. In April or so, I found the store empty. After some later searching on the web, her facebook page was gone. By Googling, I found a website that said anything not picked up in March was pretty much lost, because she’d filed bankruptcy. She had three bracelets of mine on consignment (my property). The good news is, she only had three bracelets. The bad news is, I’ll probably never see them again.
I’ve probably been lucky. In about 10 years of doing consignment, this is only the second time that I’ve been stiffed. This is a constant problem for artists….

It all started when I went in to a new consignment store to see about taking clothes. I overheard Lora, the owner, talking to someone about having art and jewelry by local artists. I talked to her, and the result was a trunk show. I provided the models and the jewelry, she provided the clothes.
Saturday, Oct. 12, Ann, Bonnie, Jacqueline and Joanne each wore two outfits with matching jewelry. They all enjoyed it, Lora made some sales and so did I.
Jacqueline takes a break. Black top, green print skirt paired with a fused glass “V” of black and green-blue dichroic, matching earrings.
